The purse strings have officially been tightened. Well.... They have been for about a month, which is when I entered the world of unemployment. It's a strange and unfamiliar territory. One that I'm still struggling to get used to. I'm a worker-bee, I thrive on the daily grind and structure, structure, structure!
What's next? Here's the big secret of the day... I'm starting a store. I'm super hesitant to spill the beans, as it will be a while until a physical store comes into play, but I wanted to share with you all and ask YOU a question!
Me: What would you like to see in a Women's clothing and home goods boutique?
You: Email me your deepest wants/desires/hints/help! nicole.funke@live.com
I have it pretty solidly hashed out thus far and am STOKED to be attending Capsule and Magic in Las Vegas next month, but I'm so very open to all you smarties and your feedback!!
Alright then, I'll keep you all posted as this dream/idea grows and becomes something more tangable than a Word document, as it now is.
Alright, today I have on a few trusted ol' favorites in my Individualized Shirt (from the late, great Winn Perry) and a retro wool Pendleton skirt (from the always handy, Goodwill). The silver & turquoise necklace came from my late Aunt, who I got so many pieces of wicked jewels from. (Another blog post for another day?)

For now, I'm on a budget. So I have been deciding which items I *really* need for Spring, which items I will get the most use out of. I made a lil' list to keep myself on track, you should try it too! It turns shopping into a scanvenger hunt and helps you not buy things you don't *really* need.

1. Basic white sneakers, Jack Purcells are just perfect! 2. A sweet, basic dress to dress up or down 3. Solid, structured handbag (Nailed it with my super red Kate Spade!) 4. Baseball Tee, so versatile 5. Basic little sweater/cover up 6. Bright, full skirt 7. Statement dress 8. Basic denim/chambray shirt 9. Swedish Hasbeens Boots (Mine are on the way!!) 10. More bracelets, cause there's never TOO many 11. Basic pencil skirt, which will be everywhere this spring

One last note, if you happen to live or just be in Vancouver BC you HAVE TO visit Beggar's Banquet. I'm pretty awful with descriptions, so I just nabbed it from the site (waaaay more eloquent than me):
Beggar's Banquet is a new monthly "Pop-up Flea" taking place at the beautiful and very central Boneta space at #1 Cordova St. in Gastown. Expanding on existing vintage sales by including more categories, filling a niche in the city, between antique fairs and Main and Terminal. Marrying combined interests and collections. (For Guys & Gals)
clothing/collectables/curiosities/housewares/skateboard/furniture/books/bicycle /records/deadstock
The first edition of this sale will take place on evening of Friday January 20th and day of Saturday January 21st. $2 admission. More details here.
...I'm so sad I couldn't be a part of it right now, but don't worry, this is only the beginning!
